The Serra Retreat Center is a Franciscan retreat and conference center located at 3401 Serra Rd, Malibu, CA 90265, nestled between the mountains and the ocean. Founded in 1943 under the patronage of Blessed Junípero Serra, it offers a serene environment for spiritual reflection, personal retreats, workshops, and group events. The center features over 60 guest rooms, conference spaces, a chapel, library, labyrinth, and stunning views of Malibu and the Pacific Ocean.
The Bishop Ordinary and Standing committee of the Diocese of the West do invite, request and summon the Rectors, Clergy, elected delegates and interested members of the Parishes and Missions of this Diocese to assemble at the Serra Retreat Center, Malibu, California, on Tuesday, September 15th, 2026 to convene the Synod for the right-ordering, good government and well-being of this Diocese and Christ's One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.
